The Right Choice When Just Asphalt Isn’t Enough
Many of our clients are in a situation where they are considering spending a bit more money initially in order to make their investment go as far as possible. When you are on that fence, an asphalt fabric overlay may be the ideal solution to preserve your pavement for years to come.
What Is A Fabric Overlay?
No, we don’t take to your lot with needle and thread in hand, patching it up. An asphalt fabric overlay is a process wherein a polypropylene fabric is applied over top of the existing pavement, before a new layer of asphalt (at least 1.5 inches) is paved over the fabric and compacted to final thickness. There are many paving fabrics available, but we prefer to use TruPave and PetroMat, as we find these to be the most reliable. However, if you prefer to use a different brand, let us know your preference and we can accommodate.
When Would A Fabric Overlay Be Necessary?
Paving fabrics are used in conjunction with an asphalt overlay as a protective layer, guarding the older pavement beneath the new overlay. This guarantees that your surface will enjoy the longest life possible. The fabric effectively creates a moisture barrier between the old and new asphalt, effectively minimizing surface water infiltration and slowing down the process of weathering. This minimizes the occurrence of new cracks and helps prevent erosion from the inside out. Using this preventive maintenance technique is just another way Eagle Paving guarantees long-lasting results.
